Co-ops in the Classroom

To ensure children learn the importance of respecting electricity, "Co-ops in the Classroom" offers a hands-on approach that teaches ways to conserve energy, recognizes where electricity comes from and evaluates electrical usage through classroom instruction and demonstrations. By instilling these concepts in children from an early age, they will be better prepared to make wise energy decisions now and be conscientious consumers of energy in the future.

The program hinges on four core electrical concepts: safety, conservation, generation and economics. Classroom presentations on each of the four subjects are available.

Co-ops in the Classroom is available to schools and organizations within the service territory of East River's 20 participating cooperatives free of charge.

Jennifer Gross, Education & Outreach Specialist at East River Electric, is the facilitator of the program.

For more information on the program or to request a presentation for your school or community organization, please visit the Co-ops in the Classroom website.
